Bathukamma festival is part of Telangana tradition and the it has a special place in Telangana peoples lives. Bathukamma is celebrated even in some parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Though Bathukamma festival is part and parcel of Telangana peoples life, it gained prominence during Telangana agitation. After Telangana was formed, Telangana Government even held Bathukamma celebrations
officially.
Telangana Jagruthi founder and Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavita has been associated with celebrating and popularising Bathukamma festival since the days of Telangana agitation. Now she is planning to make
Bathukamma celebrations even bigger this year.
Kavita released a Bathukamma songs app on Wednesday. “Bathukamma celebrations will be held on a much bigger scale this year. While Bathukamma celebrations will be held in 1100 places in Telangana, all
over the world, festival will be celebrated in nine countries. We are planning to create a Guinness world record this year, by celebrating Bathukamma with 30,000 people,” said Kavitha explaining about the
plans.
Bathukamma festival is celebrated officially by Telangana Government. Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Azmeera Chandulal even released the brochures of Bathukamma festival.
Bathukamma celebrations will start from Friday, September 30 this year. Official Bathukamma celebrations will be held at Gachi Bowli Santhi Sarovar Auditorium on October 8, at Tank Bund on October 9, Ravindra Bharathi on October 10.
