A five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘cyber security’ at Warangal NIT

Warangal Urban: A five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘cyber security’ was inaugurated by Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, Prof N V Ramana Rao through online using ‘go-to-meetings’ app on Monday.

The FDP is being conducted with the help of the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, New Delhi. While nearly 2,000 participants were registered, 300 participants were shortlisted and 200 participants were selected.

Interacting with the participants, Prof N V Ramana Rao said, “It is very good opportunity to utilise it online in lockdown period. Learning online courses are very important and need to be updated regularly.”

He also said that total of 83 programmes were selected by the AICTE (ATAL) Academy in online mode and NIT Warangal itself bagged eight FDP programme and CSE Department got six programs.

NITW Registrar Goverdhan Rao said as cyber security is very much needed as a number of frauds is increasing day by day, so a need of cyber security is important.

Dr Raju Bhukya, a faculty member, said frauds were going like banking frauds, online shopping frauds, credit card frauds, lottery ticket frauds, income tax frauds, ‘OLX frauds’ are very common these days. Cyber security can protect from these frauds, he added. Radha Krishna, Head CSE dept, and Suresh Babu were present.
