Hyderabad to be world class city; Rs.2, 000 crore allocated by Telangana

Telangana government as part of its commitment to make Hyderabad a world-class metropolis, has proposed around Rs.2, 000 crore for water supply board, Metro rail and municipal body in the budget for 2015-16.


On Wednesday, Finance Minister E. Rajender told the state assembly that extra 260 million gallons of water per day (MGPD) will be supplied to the city by the end of the year.


Promising Hyderabad metro to be completed by July 2017, the Finance Minister proposed Rs.416 crore for Hyderabad Metro Rail, Rs.526 crore for Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Rs.1,000 crore for HMWS & SB and Rs.1,600 crore for Hyderabad city’s strategic road and skyline development, apart from cleansing the Hussain Sagar lake.


During 2015-16, one lakh CCTV cameras are to be installed in the city as part of the measures for public safety and security; all the cameras will be connected to the proposed Command and Control Centre.


The minister also proposed Rs.973 crore for industrial incentives along with developing textile hub at Warangal, Hyderabad-Warangal Industrial Corridor and mini industrial townships.
