Warangal: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has said that a super-speciality hospital will come up on the existing Warangal Central Prison premises by shifting the jail to a suburban area. The CM, after conducting a video conference with the district collectors in the State, held a separate meeting with the people's representatives of the erstwhile Warangal district here on Friday. "The existing jail premises will make way for a super-speciality hospital, and the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital (MGMH) will be turned into a modern mother and child health (MCH) centre," the CM said. The super-speciality hospital would be developed on par with the best, so as to cater to the needs of people from across the State, the CM said. This apart, there was an imminent need to bolster the medicare in the region by providing all the facilities in the primary health centres (PHCs), he added. Warangal, Hyderabad from Telangana made it to the list of 100 Smart Cities

HYDERABAD: Warangal, Hyderabad from Telangana and Visakhapatnam, Tirupati and Kakinada from Andhra Pradesh made it to the list of 100 Smart Cities that the NDA government at the Centre proposes to develop in the coming years. The list of cities was finalised at a meeting of the high-level committee of the Union Urban Development Ministry in Delhi on Thursday. The notification of the list of cities is to be issued on Monday. The TRS government had sent the names of three cities, but Karimnagar could not make the cut. However, the competition is far from over as the Centre proposes to take up the development of 20 out of the 100 as smart cities in the first phase, with the remaining cities will be taken up thereafter. All the 100 cities will be given Rs 2 crore each for preparation of the master plan and the same has to be submitted to the Union government within 100 days of the notification. A five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘cyber security’ at Warangal NIT

Warangal Urban: A five-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on ‘cyber security’ was inaugurated by Director, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, Prof N V Ramana Rao through online using ‘go-to-meetings’ app on Monday. The FDP is being conducted with the help of the AICTE Training and Learning (ATAL) Academy, New Delhi. While nearly 2,000 participants were registered, 300 participants were shortlisted and 200 participants were selected. Interacting with the participants, Prof N V Ramana Rao said, “It is very good opportunity to utilise it online in lockdown period. Learning online courses are very important and need to be updated regularly.” He also said that total of 83 programmes were selected by the AICTE (ATAL) Academy in online mode and NIT Warangal itself bagged eight FDP programme and CSE Department got six programs. HYDERABAD: After fervently spearheading the campaign to put Hyderabad on Unesco's heritage list, albeit without success, the Telangana government has now redirected its focus on the districts surrounding the twin cities, which they agree have been a neglected lot. Warangal, the second largest city in Telangana, has been identified as a 'spiritual' and religious destination and several theme-based tourism circuits will soon be developed to promote the Kakatiya style of architecture and sculpture, distinguished by rock-cut elephants and structures made of black basalt, found in many parts of the district. Brochures recently released by the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (TSTDC) feature pictures and brief descriptions of the stunning temples and lakes of a city steeped in a wealth of architecture.
